Spice market is known in Turkish as Mısır Çarşısı, the Egyptian Bazaar, showing its authentic roots and in English as the Spice Market, reflecting its current trade. In 17th C. Spice Market was built as a part of New Mosque complex, whose income went to the mosque to upkeep the complex.
Today, Spice Market has a total of 85 shops selling different variety spices including saffron, Turkish Delights and other sweets, jewelry, souvenirs, dried fruits and nuts.
It is still an important market for locals in a search of completing missing flavor for secret recipes of their grandmas.
The opening hours are 09:00 am to 19:00 pm during weekdays and Saturday; from 10:00 am to 18:00 pm on Sundays. Spice Bazaar is closed during religious and public holidays.
